埼玉県秩父市は昔シルクで栄えた歴史ある町として財をなしてきました。多い時で人口の8割が養蚕農家だったと言われています。
そんな秩父の養蚕農家は今年で9軒、そのうちの8軒は高齢化が進んでいるのが現状です。
こんな危機的状況をどうするべきなのか考えた時、幸いにも秩父銘仙に携わっていたデザイナーとして、着物ではなく今のデザインを通して
誰にも真似できない本質的な仕組みを構築することで今までにはできなかった原点回帰のプロダクトや少しでも繭の生産量をあげる手助けが
できるのではないかと考えたのがきっかけでした。
シルクがもつ素晴らしい自然の力を着物という手段だけではなく、もっと身近に感じてもらえるアイテムに落とし込み、
現代の女性に本来のシルクのすばらしさに触れてもらう機会を私たちはSHELOOKというブランドを通して発信していきたい考えます。
 
一人でも多くの女性が「 SHE LOOKS HAPPY 」になるように。

COMPANY PHILOSOPHY

Chichibu, in the Saitama Prefecture in Japan, has been known as a successful town for their silk industry in history.
It is said that 80% of the population were sericulture farmers at the peak time of production.
After years, however, it has now dropped to 9 sericulture farmers in Chichibu, and eight of them are facing retiring.
As a designer who was involved in Chichibu Meisen (traditional silk fabric produced in chichibu), I had been thinking about what can be done in such a crisis situation.
If we re-build the essential mechanism at the base to something new, which nobody can imitate through using silk, for contemporary designs (rather than only the kimono)
I thought we might be able to help increase the production of cocoon or their original products.
Through the brand SHELOOK, putting the power of natural silk to those items that are familiar with modern life, we’d like to provide the opportunity to all women to know
how wonderful natural silk is.
 
We hope as many women as possible become 「 SHE LOOKS HAPPY 」
